Alloy Clearance in 5 Body Types

Shopping for your body type is hard enough when your closet is full and it’s the middle of the season… but what about when your closet looks barren, your wallet is gathering dust, and the weather is starting to change? Finding new clothes – let alone an entire outfit – that fit who you are, what your body looks like AND work with your budget can be daunting, especially when everything you can afford is sitting in the clearance section, bereft of whatever the website says you should pair it with.  (Because, of course, THAT item had to sell out months ago.)

It is possible, though, to get an entire outfit, in the clearance section, for a season it wasn’t even intended for. Affordable fashion exists! To give you some ideas, we turned to Alloy, a typically teen-centric shopping destination (with a highly impressive clearance section), for sophisticated separates and dresses for the 5 most common body types.

straightbody

STRAIGHT BODY

Play up your lean frame with a long sillouette: the rouching on this boatneck top leads the eye straight down the body to the gorgeous details on these boots. Add a single trendy accessory – we’d double up the necklace and wear it as a bracelet – and you’ll look effortlessly stylish.

petitebody

PETITE BODY

When you’re petite, there’s a fine line between classy and cute. This outfit rides it, with body-skimming basics that show off your small frame, a seriously grown up bag and shoes, plus a fun scarf to add some flirt. (And the pants come in multiple inseam sizes.)

curvybody

CURVY BODY

Curvy bodies are a primed canvas for a number of styles. Legs look a mile long in strappy sandals, while a waist-defining dress and jacket will create visual interest at your narrowest point, allowing for your curves to really stand out.

applebody

APPLE BODY

Girls with apple bodies tend to have broad shoulders and a larger bust, so we chose a gathered v-neck top to give proportion to the shoulders and play up the apple assets! With their small hips and long legs, apple bodies can pull off light trousers better than anyone (we envy them for that).  Add some hot accessories and you’re golden!

pearbody

PEAR BODY

Pear bodies have perfect proportions to wear bold patterns, colors and shapes on top. Dark-wash pants keep things streamlined, and you can get away with more bulk in a jacket than top-heavy girls.

TOTAL: $85.95

  3. Well, I can generally wear items selected for pears and hourglass shapes. Some people call my shape the x or 8. I am also petite ;-P

    I really like the Pear outfit, though not sure if the top would be too light a fabric under the coat-llike material of the jacket.

    I also love the petite outfit, though the particular pants don’t actually come in a petite length. LOL.
