First thing’s first: if you haven’t done so already, check out Karla’s Closet.  We’ll say it again: Karla’s Closet. Both of us absolutely adore her.  She’s the epitome of personal style: from her cropped hair, to her platform shoes, to her sexy, muscular ex-dancer legs.  Whenever we need a boost of inspiration, she can always give it.

In fashion news, Mark Fast hired three plus-size models…and one of his stylists quit.  She says it’s due to these model’s runway walks; the media (including Ethical Style) is skeptical, and the fashion world is considering the implications of meatier girls on the runway.  (We just think it’s great to see some diversity.)  What do you think?

Ashe Mischief, one of our favorite fashion bloggers, impressed not just us, but herself by participating in her first 5k event! Check out her current health plans. You can be sure that we’re excited to hear about more of Ms. Michief’s progress, and I have a feeling we’ll hear more about it soon…!

Fashion tells us something about ourselves and our culture. It does that by reflecting a heightened or twisted reality. It may be that the only way to change the fashion industry’s portrayal of women is not by trying to make sense of the funhouse reflection but reconsidering the original subject matter.” — Longtime fashion critic for the Washington Post, Robin Givhan, in her recent article, entitled Yes, Thin’s In — But Why Is That A Surprise? Read the rest of the article here.

Fashion designer, blogger, and the bundle of inspiration we know as Queen Gilda is getting ready to end 5 years of fashion school. Her Thesis Collection articles are a huge source of inspiration, and prove that fashion is a cerebral art, not just material.

Our beautiful friend, and excellent fashion blogger, Style IT has blown us away with her decision to take outfit photos of herself. We admire her for her choice, not because she’s a beautiful plus-sized woman, but because it takes guts to put yourself out there for the world to see, no matter what size you are. We love you, Sarah!

You know what? I LOVED the models in Mark Fast’s show. I thought they looked great in the clothing overall (though I thought they needed a size up in their panties), and I thought their curvier figures did a great job showing off the lines and angles in the gowns..

WHOAH i came here for a visit and was so surprised to see my name there!! thanks so much!

also, those plus-sized models weren’t even really plus-sized, were they? they looked like normal women to me. and the clothes looked pretty darn good on them!! i would love to show my clothes on women of all sizes. sometimes women think “oh i’m not skinny enough to wear that” but if they see someone else in it, it makes them change their mind.

so kah-ching! more money = business you know? haha.
