Pretty in Punk: Betsey Johnson
I absolutely adore Betsey Johnson. To me, she just screams self-love: she cartwheels on catwalks, smiles in the face of oh-so-serious fashion editors, and seems to constantly be dancing to the beat of her own drummer whether there’s a drummer or not.
Since I first saw her interviewed, I’ve felt a profound respect for Betsey. To me, her line and personal image represent something we don’t see enough of these days: a woman with personal style, who isn’t afraid to be noticed for who she is, whether or not it seems a little wild or over-the-top. Little black dress? Pul-lease. If you’re into Betsey Johnson, you’ll be wearing turquoise.
I’ve never been able to easily afford Betsey Johnson, though, even with one of her stores just a half-block from my office. That’s why today’s Gilt Fuse sample sale has me in a bit of a tizzy.
Gilt Fuse sells designer products at really low prices – lower than the already-discounted Gilt.com does – and that means I just might be able to pick up my first Betsey dress today. (I’m still tizzied. – Is that even a word?)
What do you think of Miss Betsey Johnson? Will you be checking out her sample sale on Gilt Fuse?
PS: If you need an invite to Gilt Fuse, use ours. It’s free, not spam-y, and helps us with our own Gilt overhead only if you choose to buy something.

@ The Demoiselles :: Pretty in Punk: Betsey Johnson:
I absolutely adore Betsey Johnson. To.. http://bit.ly/14HalU
My Prom dress from ’06 was Betsey Johnson. I was the only girl wearing a pretty cocktail-length dress. It made me stand out and I had compliments given about it all night. I then re-used it for a Masquerade dance in college:

I hand-made a mask that matched perfectly.
Basically, I love Betsey Johnson. Especially her dresses and shoes.
The new looks on her website are really interesting as well!
