Style in Season: Not Your Average Sweater
Though we love the classics – everyone should own a basic cardigan and a crewneck sweater – we also think that it’s possible to be as uniquely fashionable in winter as it is in summer. One of the easiest ways is to take whatever basic bottoms you own – jeans, slacks, skirts – and pair them with a not-so-basic top.
Women: Pleated wrap sweater – Grape wreath
$79.50
Those pleated shoulders are perfect to balance out a pear shape or add volume to an hourglass. The banding across the hips, along with the tighter sleeves, showcase your curves while keeping you warm!

Women: Double-breasted shawl cardigan – off white
$59.50
It’s a jacket…no…it’s a sweater! We love how soft and warm this one looks, and how sleek its even lines would be on a straight body. We also think that the light color and fun collar would be perfect for a pear.

Splendid Mini Oatmeal Stripe Wrap
$126
This is a favorite for both Jen and Elle. Elle loves how drapy it is, and Jen is always looking for tops that don’t cover her hips and thighs. (It’s a comfort zone for her – she’s working on it.) We think this top would give a straight figure a chance to play at curves for the day, and an hourglass figure a big boost without being too saucy.
Dani Ruffle Front Cardigan
$128
Apple girls! This top is totally for you. The ruffles create lots of length in the torso, and the collar has such a pretty heart shape for anyone with an ample bosom. Hourglass girls can rock this top too, of course, but this really is the perfect cover-up for an apple figure.
As always, remember that most of these tops will work on almost every figure, when they’re paired with the right layers and bottoms.

I LOVE sweaters. I live in them in the winter. They are so so so cozy and I think layering looks so hot in the fall
Trying to stay stylish when you just wanna wear a sweatshirt is hard…can it be done? http://twurl.nl/rc8ijk
I am a curvy “8″-shaped plus-sized woman, and it may not be the most flattering, but I’d totally wear the double-breasted sweater. I LOVE it. Aside from these, I’m a huge fan of cable-knits, hooded/pocketed sweaters, and really thick ones with fantastic turtlenecks!
