Reasons Why Kate Moss Said This:
| Theory | Explanation |
| She’s daft. | Kate is under a lot of pressure in her line of work. She’s constantly in demand by photographers, editors, she’s doing her TopShop line, etc… There’s not a lot of time to look beyond your own nose, and see that there are other forms of beauty out there. |
| She’s oldschool. | “Oldskool” meaning, of course, “living in the era of her hayday” which is basically saying she’s stuck in the late 1990s – when “thin” was at the peak of in – and refuses to let go of modeling get with the new ideas. |
| She’s a mind puppet. | If “fat” becomes “okay”, the weight loss industry will be destroyed. Who will take all the Trimspa? The Metabolife? The anal-leakage-prone Alli? Naturally, they’ve either brainwashed or paid Kate Moss to front their war on self-comfort. She’ll be doing interviews on behalf of Weight Watchers, eagerly trying to chase the “waif” look back into the spotlight, as millions of dollars in the form of water pills, green tea extract and Acai berry powder protein mix wring their hands quietly behind the curtain. |
| She’s been misconstrued. | The phrase “but it never works” could easily have been referring to the motto itself, as opposed to her lack of ability when it comes to remembering. It could very well be that this entire quote is actually putting down the motto itself, instead of heartily endorsing it. Intonation! |
Regardless of the reasoning, former Demoiselle and good-life blogger, Birdie, has it right:
Dear Kate Moss. Skinny doesn’t taste as good as the enchilada I just had.
What do you think Kate meant?

Marvelous Monday! : Wicked Whimsy added these pithy words on Nov 16 09 at 11:36 amI think she meant exactly what she said, but I don’t take these kinds of comments seriously anymore because I know that they are either coming from ignorant people or people who are looking for attention.

Skinny can often mean healthy. NOT always, but often a slimmer waistline means a healthier body. Nothing taste as good as skinny feels because, though that enchilada may taste way better than a salad with lean protein thrown on top, the healthier option makes your body feel well.
To hell if that’s how she meant it, that’s how I view it.

All I have to say is that if nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, she’s gotta be surrounded by some pretty crappy cooks.
and personally, I would probably feel pretty crappy at her stage of skinny. Skinnier =/= healthier OR feeling better.

I have friends that have this statement as their signatures in emails and on message boards. They are usually dieters, and supposedly use the phrase for motivation. I thought it was gross the first time I heard it, but I have low tolerance for that sort of thing LOL.
I would guess people have suggested that to her as a motivator, and she is indicating it doesn’t work for her …strange thing to pick though eh? Instead of something about hard work pays off, or some such other motto that would make sense for he hectic work life.

HEAR HEAR michelle!!!
She has never tried BF’s cooking, that is for damn sure.
And skinny CAN mean healthy eating and being slim, but in her case, I highly doubt it
Girl is skin and bones.
I think #1 is the most apt: she’s daft.
Seriously, check out my Vanilla Almond Pound Cake recipe in the Link Love and tell me if you’d rather be skin and bones or eating that cake one handful at a time? ![]()

Augh!!!
First – I would ask her, if her cocaine had calories would she feel the same?
Second – As a skinny girl I’d say plenty of things taste good enough to be worth a few pounds, perhaps she needs to try more than bland British food.

My (very thin) cousin says that “motto” all the time. I tell her that she’s probably never had really good BBQ.
I think that my cousin says it to make herself feel better… to convince herself that ordering a side salad and dry baked potato at a restaurant is truly making her happy. Maybe it is? I don’t know. All I know is that she’s 61 and spent the majority of her life obsessed with that motto, and I refuse to spend the next 40 years counting calories…
I have no idea what Kate is talking about, though…
